Note from Chris: There are two ways to consume the content within this post. Either carry on reading, or watch the quick clip above!
I used to do a lot of online video. Tips, tactics, me waffling on about something I’m passionate about, or irritates me – you know, the usual stuff.
However, last year as I was writing Virtual Freedom, I did less and less video. It wasn’t because I no longer liked doing video, but because I was simply too busy writing to find the time to get in front of the camera.
Now that the book has been launched and I’m over the initial promotional hurdle (with great results – thank you to everyone that’s purchased a copy!), I’ve decided that it’s time to get back into the video saddle again.
#VIDTEMBER – 30 DAYS, 30 VIDEOS
As I’m about to embark on a 1-month long journey around Australia and the USA, I thought now would be the perfect time to throw myself into things again and I’m challenging myself to shoot 30 clips that I’ll share online, one day at a time, throughout the 30 days of September.
The official title of the challenge is… #vidtember.
I’ll be sharing tips, resources, views and surprise guests along the way, throughout the whole month. Everything will be available on the Official #Vidtember Channel, and you’ll be able to tune-in each day from September 1 onwards, for a new clip to consume and (hopefully) share.
WANNA JOIN ME ON MY CHALLENGE…?
Here’s the exciting thing – you can do more than just consume and share my videos.
You can make your own!
I’m formally challenging any of the New Business Tribe to join me throughout the entire month to go ahead and also create lots of valuable video content for their audiences. It doesn’t need to be daily, like mine – but, at least regularly throughout the month.
You’ll find that the more clips you shoot, the better you’ll get at it and the more online content you’ll be creating for your fans, YouTube and Google to fall in love with!
BUT, WHAT DO I PUT IN MY VIDEOS, CHRIS?
Great question. Simple… Ask your audience (like I am below!).
They’ll tell you what they want to see from you. You then simply create the content that answers their questions and provides solutions to their problems – it’s really not rocket science.
To give you some ideas, here are some of things I’ll be sharing:
- The kit I take with me in my carry-on to work seamlessly when traveling.
- A quick chat with Pat Flynn on the speaking business.
- Tips on starting your own mastermind group.
- Must use resources to stay productive as an online entrepreneur.
- A big tip on how to get more Amazon reviews for your book.
- A conversation with John Lee Dumas on podcasting.
- Tips and tactics for online content repurposing.
The list of topics I’ve already put together goes on and on!
You Don’t Need to Be Steven Spielberg!
There’s no point in me shooting countless takes for a clip to share online. There’s no point in lots of editing taking place – that’s simply not my style at all. And it doesn’t need to be yours either.
Just focus on original, valuable content that can educate, inspire or entertain.
Shoot with your webcam, your smart phone, or your digital camera. Anything. Just shoot it, and get it up online for the world to enjoy.
After you post your video, share it via social media and use the official challenge hashtag #vidtember – this way myself and my team can monitor Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc., and help promote your videos to our network, too!
You’ll also be in the running to win a special little prize we’re putting together for the best video of the month. The winner will be announced in the September 30 video clip that I post.
That’s it. Gonna come along for the ride? I look forward to seeing your clips, just as much as I look forward to shooting and sharing mine! 🙂
