I consider Chris Ducker to be one of the top experts when it comes to virtual business management. Not only does he know it, he lives it!

~ Dave Crenshaw Author – The Myth of Multitasking

My Story

Everything changed for me at the end of 2009, when I suffered a horrific burnout. I was living like most entrepreneurs, working 14-hour days, six days a week, spending very little time with my family and working ‘in’ my business, instead of ‘on’ it way too much. Sure, I loved my business and the focus of building it, but I was tired. In every possible way.
Going into 2010, I put a 1-year goal in place – to become a Virtual CEO. I started a blog to chart the journey. I was going to replace myself in my business as much as possible by the end of the year. By late November 2010, I achieved the goal. Not only that, but I launched another business in the middle of that year, Virtual Staff Finder, as a result of simply listening to my online audience.
I now work an average of 6-hours a day, my workweek no longer includes Friday and I get to spend lots of time with my wife and three awesome children.

The ‘Youpreneur’ Moment

Another big change came along in 2010. It was the way I started running, marketing and growing my businesses.
As a brick and mortar business owner with an ‘old school’ mentality, I found myself a little surprised at how I was starting to embrace the internet. Initially I was just focusing on blogging and podcasting, as well as recording lots of online video content. But, then I also started using social media with a real zest for business growth and relationships.
The world had already ‘changed’ the way it was doing business, and I now had finally started to follow.
Everything changed. And I mean everything.
Because of the focus I was now putting on my personal brand, I started to see a massive influx of inquiries to my businesses. More than we had ever experienced before. I was getting asked to be interviewed by different podcasts and being featured in the press, across several mediums.
More and more private consultation clients came on board and I began getting invitations to speak at events more frequently.
It was obvious that the world was changing the way they engaged. Not just in business. In every way.
I completely shifted my attitude (something that’s required!) and started reading like a madman. I read every ‘new’ business book I could get my hands on. Then I would hunt those authors down and interview them for my podcast!
Even with my roots in business being very traditional, today I’m a different entrepreneur, with a whole new outlook on the way business needs to get done.
Focusing on building my businesses around my personal brand is the best decision I’ve ever made as an entrepreneur.
It will be the same for you, too. Wait and see!
